Autumn in Grammeni Oxia

Mount Oxia (or Sarantaina) is located between Karpenisi and Vardousia, in the south of the prefecture of Fthiotida, about 270 km from Athens. It is a small mountain with smooth slopes and relatively low altitude, with the highest peak (Sarantaina) reaching 1,923 meters. The beech forest that stretches on its slopes starts from 1200m and goes off at about 1,700m. From this altitude to the peaks the landscape alternates with subalpine meadows.
